I suppose this kind of info would just be taken for granted by hardcore MAME veterans as common knowledge.

As an example, we will look at the steps to convert the chd file for "Killer Instinct" which is "kinst. This is highly inefficient, and really defeats the purpose of the CHD files.

This assumes you have placed the chd file to convert in the same directory as the chdman tool. I've gotten Judge Dredd, Killer Instinct 1 and 2 to work In fact, it is a very bad idea.
